  • Identify red flags that improve the diagnostic yield of testing for transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis (CA), a common cause of heart failure in elderly patients.
  • Apply serum free light chain assay and direct serum and urine immunofixation electrophoresis to differentiate light chain amyloidosis and rule it out in patients with CA phenotype.
  • Describe noninvasive diagnosis of transthyretin CA using bone scintigraphy, requiring imaging with single-photon emission computed tomography.
  • Differentiate the diverse roles of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging for the imaging cascade of patients with left ventricular hypertrophy including CA.
