Weaving Self-Compassion into Clinical Practice- March 22, 2023
In the last decade, there has been increased attention to the practice of self-compassion as a means of promoting self-care and resiliency among helping professionals. The practice of self-compassion is widely viewed as an evidence-based practice which can be valuable when woven into our therapeutic interventions with clients/patients. Not surprising, self-compassion is considered fundamentally critical to the resiliency of social work practitioners across diverse practice settings. This highly experiential presentation will provide a framework for understanding self-compassion and demonstrate a few key practices with participants within the presentation. The emphasis will be on promoting the practice of self-compassion as a means of enhancing professional self-care and our effectiveness as social work practitioners.

2. describe self-compassion, its benefits, and evidence-based research supporting its effectiveness; and
3. Identify key mindful self-compassion practices for social work practitioner and patients.
