Two Minds, One Patient: Clearing up Confusion about ‘Ambivalence' - Online CME Course
Ethics Grand Rounds offers all members of the care team the opportunity to learn about the ethics issues they encounter and develop strategies for addressing those issues.
This session will help learners distinguish different types of ambivalence-related mental states, highlight their normative significance, and outline strategies for supporting decision making in patients deemed “ambivalent.”

Learning Objectives

- Describe the different ambivalence-related mental states that patients might experience.
- Identify some of the normative considerations associated with caring for “ambivalent” patients .
- Apply some of the strategies for responding to ambivalence-related mental states that we identify.
