Transplant Lunch and Learn: Pregnancy and Transplantation

Transplant nursing is a rapidly evolving specialty with patients requiring complex, multispecialty care and care coordination.   Information must be gathered from a number of sources, scientific literature, participation in seminars and conferences, individual expertise in order to remain current.  Transplant Lunch and Learn Series is developed in conjunction with the clinical educator for the Transplant Center to meet ongoing learning needs of the RN Transplant Coordinators. 

Target Audience

Registered Nurse, PA, Social Workers, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

Learning Objectives

  • Explain the risks associated with post-transplant patients who are considering pregnancy or who are already pregnan
  • Describe how to create a plan of care encompassing the phases of pregnancy

Nursing Learning Outcome:

Healthcare Professionals attending this activity will have greater confidence in their ability to provide accurate patient and family education and anticipatory guidance regarding the management of pregnancy issues related to also being a transplant recipient.  They will identify at least one new learning they intend to put into personal practice.
