This activity is intended for physicians, nurse, residents, fellows, pharmacists, and researchers.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- Examine the changes allowed by FDA to recieve emergency IND applications and expedite review in the COVID-19 setting.
- Describe the mechanisms for informed consent during a pandemic.
- Describe the initial response from researchers, sponsors, and the institution related to protocol submissions.
- Describe the decisions and dilemmas related to initial surge of protocols. Understand the mechanisms for rapid evaluation and escalation or research activities during a pandemic.
- Explore mechanisms to address the different ethical and legal perspectives of clinicians, research personnel, the health care team, health care delivery systems, and society.
