Recovery-Oriented Care Series - Trauma-Informed Care - 2024

April 9, 2024 to April 22, 2024

Recovery is the process of creating a purposeful life, despite mental health symptoms (SAMHSA, 2012). Recovery-oriented care (ROC) principles guide mental health service delivery. Compared to treatment as usual, ROC is associated with  improved patient outcomes, such as increased medication adherence, greater engagement in care, reduced symptoms, and better community functioning as well as  reduced staff burnout (Badu et al., 2021; Kraus & Stein, 2013). Despite it’s designation as best practice, few psychiatric inpatient units nationwide implement this model of care  (Waldemar et al., 2016). This training series will provide learners with information about ROC, skills to implement this model of care, and resources for continued recovery-oriented practice.
