Perioperative Changing in Patient’s Condition Seminar 2022
The course is for the perioperative and procedural registered nurse. It explores the potential changes that could occur in patients having procedures and strategies to manage these changes.

For perioperative and procedural RN staff only.
FREE for Houston Methodist Employees but requires management approval.
Learning Objectives
What should the RN know/do differently upon completion of this activity?
- Identify strategies to prevent hypothermia
- Identify signs and symptoms related to pressure injuries
- Recognize changes in normal EKG rhythm
- Recognize signs and symptoms of Stroke and Sepsis
- Manage hemorrhage
- Recognize local anesthetic systemic toxicity and surgical emergencies in the Perioperative patient
At the completion of this activity the perioperative Registered Nurse should be able to identify potential detrimental changes in a patient’s condition and be better prepared to respond to the changes.

Upon completion of the Perioperative Changing in Patient’s Condition Seminar, the perioperative nurse will be able to identify signs and symptoms that a patient may exhibit related to hypothermia, pressure injuries, changes in EKG rhythm, stroke, sepsis, hypothermia, local anesthetic system toxicity and surgical emergencies.
