Pathway to Unparalleled - Safety & Quality - 2024
Overview
Seven years ago we invited all Houston Methodist employees to take part in Pathway to Unparalleled, a hands on program designed to connect employees with our mission and strategy as an organization. It helped participants define what unparalleled means to them. We built on that foundation with a program that specifically focused on compassionate communication, which means using intentional heartfelt words and actions when we engage with each other and with our patients and their families. We continued the journey with a focus on what it means to care for and serve our patients and our employees. This year we continue the journey with Unparalleled Safety. Physicians understand the importance of improving safety, quality, and outcomes for our patients firsthand. Safety isn't something that is option, it is a required in order to provide the best possible care. This 90 minute practical session focuses on how we foster a culture of safety within our teams, and across the organization. We will review the tools and resources we use to engage our teams more deeply on what it safety means, both physically and psychologically. We must always keep the patient at the center of everything we do. But we can’t forget to take care of ourselves and to take care of each other. Our employees are more engaged when they feel psychologically and physically safe while at work. This central lesson is part of Pathway to Unparalleled. It’s this commitment to safety for our patients and our employees that truly sets us apart from other institutions.
