
Neurology Bootcamp 3/28-3/29

This 2-day program aims to provide neurology residents with exposure to subspecialty areas of neurology and advanced procedures that they may have limited exposure to in their training. Lectures will be provided in the fields of stroke, neuromuscular, epilepsy, neuroimmunology, movement disorders, and cognitive/behavioral neurology by specialists in their respective fields. Attendees will also be afforded the opportunity to participate in a skills workshop where they will familiarize themselves with common procedures performed by various subspecialties. The program ends with a career panel where attendees will be able to pose questions to expert panelists regarding different career tracts (education, research, advocacy, private practice)
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Show familiarity with subspecialities within the field of neurology
- Familiarize themselves with updates in the fields of neuroimmunology, stroke medicine, cognitive medicine and neuroimaging
- Understand how to approach patients for advances neurological procedures such as deep brain stimulation
- Understand the indications and rational for Botulinum toxin
- Gain exposure to common procedures in neurology including EMG, EEG, Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation, Fundoscopic Exam, Botox Injections, Occipital Nerve Blocks, Transcranial Dopplers and Running a Telestroke
- Understand career goals and lifestyle among neurologist pursuing different career tracts including clinician scientist, education, advocacy and private practice.
Target audience includes 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year neurology residents, particularly those who are hoping to a make a decision on their next career steps or explore fellowship opportunities.
