Learning Objectives

  • Discuss examples you observed of effective communication between nurses and physicians.
  • Describe how nurses and doctors exchange information clearly, accurately, and collaboratively especially when engaging in emergent or time-sensitive situations.
  • Identify which approaches help keep the dialogue focused on the patient while ensuring everyone’s voice is heard.
  • Discuss how one would repair professional relationships after communication breakdown.
