Target Audience
This class is designed for Houston Methodist Registered Nurses seeking to gain knowledge about identifying and navigating nurse burnout to promote safe patient outcomes.
Learning Objectives
- Vicarious Trauma: Define, recognize, and navigate the impact on job performance as well as a contributing factor for burnout.
- Sources of Stress: Identify and define environmental, social, physiological, cognitive, and emotional sources of stress
- Stress Responses: Identify physiological and psychological responses to stress
- Burnout: Define burnout, recognize signs of burnout, and identify how burnout affects patient safety
- Burnout and Vicarious Trauma Management: Identify strategies to cope with burnout and trauma, and recognize how to assist patients and others with vicarious trauma
