HMSL NICU Journal Club-Reflux in the Neonatal Patient

February 21, 2024

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that infants are placed flat on their back for sleep. Infants in the NICU have a high incidence of gastroesophageal reflux and historically have been placed side lying or with the head of bed elevated. Current evidence recommends following safe sleep guidelines for this population.

Target Audience

Registered Nurses

Learning Objectives
