Foundations of Progressive Care - Nurse Residency Course

Learning Objectives
What should the RN know/do differently upon completion of this activity?
- Apply an enhanced understanding of pathophysiology, pharmacology to management of conditions seen in the acutely ill progressive care patient.
- Relate hemodynamic findings to clinical condition and treatment
- Improve recognition of changing patient conditions
- Provide evidence based high quality nursing care to progressive care patients
- Improve professional practice behaviors through enhanced critical thinking, team work and communication skills
Nurses attending this course will be able to provide high quality care based on an enhanced understanding of pathophysiology and pharmacology related to management of conditions seen in the acutely ill patient who requires enhanced interventions and monitoring. They will be prepared to anticipate care needs, recognize changing conditions, initiate early interventions and provide accurate anticipatory guidance for patients in the progressive care setting.
Nurses will report via the post activity evaluation an increase in confidence in their ability to provide high quality care to acutely ill patients who require enhanced interventions and monitoring, including anticipating care needs, recognizing changing conditions, initiating early interventions, and providing accurate anticipatory guidance. They will identify at least one new learning they will be able to implement in practice.
