Explosive Disaster & Blast Trauma - August 16, 2024

Explosive disaster and blast trauma will include a discussion on bomb activity, Improvised Explosive Devices, and explosion components. Blast force injuries will evaluate the different blast injuries and the medical response to blast injuries. Lessons learned from previous explosive trauma will conclude the lecture.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, 90% of participants will be able to self-report an increase in knowledge of an explosive disaster event with blast trauma as stated on the post-activity evaluation. 80% of participants will be able to correctly list one indicator of a homemade explosive component, correctly identify one product that can be used in bombs as shrapnel or fragmentation, and correctly define an injury pattern from a secondary blast injury.
