Emerging Leader Program: Communicating to Inspire - December 2024
Communicating in a way that inspires others often requires the ability to share ideas in an organized and succinct manner. Develop an “elevator speech” and use these developed conversations to build leadership presence and inspire others.
Having the ability to communicate ideas logically and succinctly is a powerful tool for leaders and can aid in their ability to inspire those around them. In this Emerging Leader Program course, participants will have the opportunity to learn the importance of a well-developed an “elevator speech” and how these developed conversations can provide opportunities to share ideas, gain buy-in, support career development, and communicate to inspire.
After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Tailor your elevator speech and assess the relevance of your message to your career development
- Understand the 5 C’s and critical guidelines of communication with a leadership presence
Identify ways to elicit inspiration through tailored communication

Nursing Learning Outcome:
Upon completing this activity, registered nurses are expected to report increased knowledge of the 5 C’s and critical guidelines of communication, creating elevator speeches, and eliciting inspiration as indicated by their responses on the post-activity survey.
