Emergency Department Preceptor Foundations & Development Workshop

The Emergency Department Preceptor Foundations & Development Series is a comprehensive, evidence-informed pre-course designed to prepare experienced emergency nurses to serve as intentional, effective preceptors. This interactive learning series establishes the professional identity, teaching strategies, communication skills, and ethical foundations required to guide new nurses safely and confidently through Emergency Department orientation. Through scenario-based learning, structured feedback models, adult learning theory, and reflective practice, participants develop the mindset and tools necessary to coach clinical judgment in high-acuity, high-variability environments.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, at least 80% of learners will indicate ‘Agree’ or ‘Strongly Agree’ that their knowledge of core principles for successful nurse preceptorship across the Emergency Department clinical setting has increased.
 

By the end of this course, at least 80% of learners will indicate ‘Agree’ or ‘Strongly Agree’ that they feel more confident applying key precepting skills, such as delivering feedback, facilitating clinical teaching, and supporting nurse socialization into the unit, in the post-activity evaluation.
