- Pathophysiology of life-threatening problems encountered in critical care nursing practice.
- How to analyze patient care situations and implement appropriate interventions.
- Evaluating patient responses to nursing, medical and Pharmacologic interventions.

Laura Gasparis Vonfrolio RN, PhD has been a nurse for over 50 years in critical care nursing and has held CCRN and CEN certifications. She obtained and Associate and Bachelors degree in Nursing, MA from NYU in Nursing Education and a PhD in Nursing Education from LaSalle and Adelphi University.
She has held positions as a staff nurse, manager, staff development instructor and a tenured Professor of Nursing. Dr. Gasparis Vonfrolio has published over 30 articles, authored 11 books including the Critical Care Examination Review, Emergency Nursing Examination Review, Nurse Abuse.
The “Nurses March on Washington DC” with over 35,000 nurse has been the catalyst for nurse legislation for safe nurse patient ratio’s. She was also the publisher 1991 – 1998 of REVOLUTION – The Journal of Nurse Empowerment. For 30 years she has been President of Education Enterprises, a company offering educational conferences, nursing products, online courses and Apps .
Houston Methodist is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
To be awarded 10.67 continuing professional development hours, the participant must attend the program in its entirety and complete the evaluation tool.
