Best Practices for Visualizing Research Data: What elements make up a successful research figure?
An essential element of scientific communication is understanding best practices for data visualization and figure tyoes used to convey research data and indications for usage. This 90-minute course provided an in-depth look at how to create figures for posters, manuscripts and oral presentations, and includes a lecture and a group problem-solving session.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to
- review the basic elements of design that make up a successful figure or poster, including layout, organization, text, color, and graphical elements.
- discuss the variety of visualization and figure types.
- analyze examples and offer the opportunity for participants to share their figures or posters for review.
