The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) updated their hyperbilirubinemia guidelines in 2022. These guidelines have changed the thresholds for treatment in the neonatal population.

The nurse will understand hyperbilirubinemia pathophysiology and have increased knowledge of the current AAP guidelines that will aid them in caring for a patient receiving phototherapy.
