This lecture presents historical data on how immigration laws have influenced the Asian American medical workforce as the overrepresented minority. It encourages reflection on implicit bias, aggregated data, and steps to promoting a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion for Asian Americans in medicine.

Corrina Yu, MD

Dr. Corinna Yu is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesia at Indiana University and Chair of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Justice Committee for the Department of Anesthesia. She was a board member for Women in Anesthesiology and founded the first statewide women in anesthesiology conference in Indiana. She serves on the American Society of Anesthesiologists Committee on Professional Diversity and won a mentorship grant to explore English as a second language in medical students. Her article, "Asian Americans: The Overrepresented Minority?" has sparked conversation internationally. She is here to present, "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for Asian Americans in Medicine."
