Pharmacotherapy for Essential Hypertension: A Brief Review - Journal-based CME
Journal-based CME Activity
Methodist DeBakey Cardiovascular Journal
This activity is designed to show the importance of blood pressure reduction, and not the use of a specific group of antihypertensive medication class, as the major determinant of reducing adverse cardiovascular events. It overviews multiple studies and all major guidelines to offer consistent recommendations for multiple drug therapy as the initial approach for managing hypertension, accompanied by strategies that can improve patient compliance—including one-time dosing, the use of generic and more affordable medications, and using the medication that is well tolerated.
