Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to: 

  • Describe why contrast-associated kidney injury is associated with a high rate of death.
  • Apply scoring systems to predict an individual’s risk of developing contrast-associated kidney injury.
  • Utilize published protocols to guide hydration to prevent kidney injury in patients at risk for contrast-associated kidney injury.
  • Evaluate automated injection devices to limit the amount of contrast used on coronary angiography.
