1. Describe the recent efforts to remove race from certain diagnostic tests and clinical algorithms (e.g. eGFR, PFTs).
2. Discuss the roles played by scientific and political considerations in those decisions.
3. Recognize the limits of the racial categories that are now used in medical research and practice.
