J. Mario Gonzalez, MD, Memorial Endowed Lectureship

Dr. J. Mario Gonzalez (1953-2009) was a premier pulmonary specialist and active staff member at Houston Methodist Hospital for more than 20 years.

He proudly held the position of secretary of the medical staff and chief of clinical critical care. As part of the Houston Methodist Neurological Institute, he cared for patients with respiratory complications of their neurological diseases. Dr. Gonzalez was a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher and a selfless physician. He is remembered for his empathy, expertise, humor and devotion to Houston Methodist and his patients.
