Learning Objectives

        • Discuss basic ocular anatomy and how various eye conditions and diseases have affected the works of prominent painters like Monet, Degas, Munch, O’Keeffe, and Cassatt.
        • Identify some prominent blind musicians and composers throughout ancient and modern history and what conditions caused their blindness.
        • Explain the fascinating and  frequent connection between blindness and outstanding musical ability and its neurological underpinnings.
        • Share the appreciation and evolution of treatments for the conditions that these artists suffered from and how ophthalmologists would treat these historically blinding conditions in the present day.
