This activity will bring together experts, thought leaders, scientists and practitioners to explore regulatory and ethical challenges in providing oversight for animal and human research, discuss recent policy changes and advances that impact research, and establish best practice across the animal research and human research protection program at Houston Methodist (HM). This is a first of it's kind activity, that will facilitate collaborative interactions and engagement between the faculty that serve on the HM regulatory oversight committees with the goal of improving the research infrastructure at Houston Methodist.
Target Audience
Physicians, nurses, pharmacists that participate on regulatory oversight committees.
Learning Objectives
- Apply the regulatory requirements and ethical considerations when reviewing animal, human subjects, and safety research.
- Describe how the evolving regulatory guidelines, technologies (i.e. AI), ethical implications impact the regulatory review of animal, human subjects, and safety research.
- Identify how the regulatory principles and ethical considerations, when reviewing animal, human subjects, and safety research, contribute to the effective and efficient regulatory review of a protocol.
