Overview
Neurological disease and disorders are highly prevalent among the United States population and cause significant morbidity and mortality across the age spectrum. Although neuroscience knowledge and technology are advancing at rapid rates, many patients do not receive evidence-based care, and significant disparities in care and outcomes exist among racial and ethnic groups, and across geographic regions.
Target Audience and Needs
The target audience for this activity is: physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and healthcare professionals with an interest in neurological disorders.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- Describe the advantages, disadvantages, and controversies surrounding new advances in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disease and disorders.
- Evaluate therapeutic strategies for patients with spinal disorders.
- Discuss epidemiology of neurological disease and disorders.
- Compare and contrast the presentation and management of headache disorders, memory disorders, cranial nerve diseases, and neurodegenerative diseases.
- Explain the diagnostic evaluation of patients with sleep disorders, seizure, and epilepsy.
