Overview
There is a need for physicians, residents, and fellows to continually update their knowledge in treatment of patients with cancer. The American College of Surgeons requires that physicians must participate in continuing medical education activities pertinent to their field of specialty. Educational methods will include lecture, case presentation, and question & answer session. Participants will be asked to complete an activity evaluation.
Target Audience and Needs
The target audience for this activity is: physicians, gastroenterologists, general surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, residents, fellows, nurses, physician's assistants, and medical students.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- Describe the risk factors for, and approaches needed, to decrease the occurrence of cancer.
- Evaluate published data regarding different kinds of cancer.
- Identify new treatments/drugs in the treatment of cancer.
- Determine the best treatment options utilizing multidisciplinary insight, and discussion to better the patient's specific care.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
