Overview
There is a need for physicians, residents, and fellows to continually update their knowledge in the treatment of patients with cancer. The American College of Surgeons requires that physicians must participate in continuing medical education activities pertinent to their field of specialty. Educational methods will include lecture, case presentation, and question & answer session. Participants will be asked to complete an activity evaluation.
Target Audience and Needs
The target audience for this activity is: the physicians, general surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, residents, fellows, nurses, physician's assistants, pharmacists, researchers, and medical students.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- Determine the best treatment options utilizing multidisciplinary insight, and discussion to better the patient's specific care.
- Apply the current standards of oncology and NCCN Clinical Practical Guidelines in Oncology to optimize the management of patients with cancer.
- Describe evidence and/or guideline-based approaches to therapy as well as available clinical trials.
- Identify oncology patients who may benefit from services such as rehabilitation, nutrition, and genetic counseling support.
