How to Write a Research Question
Educational Development Workshop for nurse educators presented by the Office of Curriculum and Educational Development.
In the first half of this one hour course you will learn how about research, what qualifies as human subjects research, and the steps you need to take before you start any research project. The second half of this course will focus on how to write an effective research question for both quantitative and qualitative studies and include a chance to apply what you learned and practice writing your own research question. This course is a condensed version of weeks 1 and 2 of Foundations of Research Methods.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Define research
2. Recognize human subjects research
3. Create an effective research question
4. Recall the 4 key parts of a quantitative research question and
3 key parts of a qualitative research question

Nursing Learning Outcome:
Upon completion of this activity, registered nurses will state an increase in confidence and knowledge regarding creating effective research questions as reported on the post activity evaluation tool. Activity tool must be completed within 30 days of the activity.
