Nursing Grand Rounds: Palliative Care
This Nursing Grand Rounds session will explore the essential principles and practices of palliative care, with a focus on distinguishing it from hospice care. Led by Dr. Nhu-Nhu Tull, a fellowship-trained palliative medicine physician, the presentation will cover the clinical application of palliative sedation, the pharmacologic management of symptoms using opioids and adjunct medications, and global perspectives on palliative care delivery. Through real-world insights and evidence-based practices, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to provide compassionate, patient-centered care across diverse healthcare settings.
Target Audience
RNs, APRNs, LPNs/LVNs. All acute care nurses that have or may encounter palliative care.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, 75% of the participants, as indicated by the post-evaluation survey, will report increased knowledge of palliative care, principles of palliative care sedation, palliative care medications and palliative care across diverse healthcare systems.
