Overview
Nurses provide direct interactions with patient families and members of the interdisciplinary team. They are critical in shaping the patient experience and ensuring that communication flows between all disciplines and with patients/families.

- Define emotional intelligence and its role in managing conflict and negative behaviors in the healthcare environment
- Identify common emotional triggers and high stress clinical situations and how they influence responses
- Apply strategies to deescalate negative behaviors using emotionally intelligent communication techniques
- Demonstrate self-awareness and self regulation techniques to maintain professionalism during challenging interactions
- Identify common sources of conflict in the clinical setting involving patients family and health care team members
- Describe effective communication and techniques for managing challenging interactions professionally
- Apply conflict resolution strategies that promote collaboration preserve trust and supportive respectful environment
