With the increasing population of patients that require inpatient chemotherapy, this offering closes the knowledge and skill gaps for nurses who do not have experience in safely administering these drugs.

Target Audience

Registered Nurses 

Learning Objectives

 

  • Define cancer, chemotherapy, and other oncology treatments
  • Discuss principles of hazardous drugs and safely administering hazardous drugs
  • Discuss principal patient assessments and monitoring required for intravenous oncology treatments
  • Discuss safe handling of chemotherapy and other hazardous drugs
  • Discuss hazardous drug spill management and exposure management
  • Identify common inpatient intravenous oncology medications and treatment protocols
