4th Annual Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) Prevention Symposium - May 4, 2024

May 4, 2024

In-Person and Virtual attendance options are available.

Presented by the Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center

Prevention of cardiovascular disease (heart attacks, heart failure, arrhythmias) is possible. Most cardiovascular diseases can be prevented when other risk factors, such as overweight or obesity, smoking, physical inactivity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes, are addressed. Early detection, lifestyle modification, and medicine management are key for addressing cardiovascular risk.

The number of patients with obesity, diabetes, and other risk factors continues to rise. Therefore, more emphasis needs to be on prevention, rather than reacting and managing cardiovascular diseases. This educational event will provide updates on the most current recommendations for cardiovascular disease prevention, ranging from lifestyle interventions, testing and clinical decision-making for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, residents, and fellows. Examples include diet, exercise and obesity-related guidelines (primary prevention), blood pressure management, cholesterol management, newer therapies for diabetes and chronic kidney disease.
