Statement of Need
To improve the quality of care by providing guidance for management of incidental lung nodules based on evidence-based practice using American College of Radiology (ACR) severity criteria. This will be done by discussing incidental findings, evaluation of follow-up care, additional CT surveillance and decision-making regarding additional diagnostic evaluation or biopsy.
Target Audience and Needs
The target audience for this activity is: physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists.
Objectives
- Make improvements in practice-based learning by understanding the process of identification of lung nodules, providing recommendations for further evaluation or follow-up as well as making determinations in plan of care.
- Demonstrate systems-based practice by working together as multidisciplinary team to address lung nodule identification, discussion, and analysis and making recommendations for subsequent plan of care.
- Employ evidence-based practice by using criteria outlined by the American College of Radiology for identification of nodules that meet criteria, guide discussion, surveillance and recommendations for further diagnostic.
