Intensive Bioethics Course

Houston, TX US
April 18, 2022 to April 22, 2022

Health Care Team members involved in complex clinical situations struggle with issues such as making ethical decisions and  having conversations about care decisions and preferences with patients, families and surrogates that result in clear understanding of facts intentions and expectations for all parties.  The quality of healthcare is improved through the identification, analysis, and resolution of ethical concerns. Recognizing this, hospitals institute mechanisms and means to resolve ethical uncertainty or conflict. For many hospitals, this may mean “charging” individuals with little to no ethics background and mediation training to resolve potentially complex ethical challenges by chairing ethics committees, being members of such committees, or conducting ethics consultations. Health Care administrators are also faced with providing operational oversight, funding , and defending the need for a hospital based bioethics consultation process, also with little training in bioethics.

Target Audience

Nurses aspiring for further education in bioethics.
